According to latest statistics, Mugla is the leading Turkey in terms of foreigners either residing or owning a house in the city. The majority of the properties owned by Greek citizens are located in Istanbul and Bursa. In both cities, the number of properties owned by the Greeks are far more than the number of properties owned by the citizens of the rest of the world.

UNESCO says Building Plans may Disfigure Istanbul PDF Print E-mail

UNESCO, the United Nations' cultural organization, said plans to build Europe's tallest skyscraper in Istanbul and expand a luxury hotel threaten the former Ottoman capital's historic sites. Turkey should reconsider Four Seasons Hotels plans to expand its hotel in Istanbul's historic center, and by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum's Dubai Holding LLC to build a skyscraper in the business district, UNESCO said.

Emre Camlıbel, chief executive officer of Soyak, speaking on the conference held by the Turkish-American Business Council within Foreign Economic Affairs Association (DEİK) in New York, said, “housing needs arise as a result of the increase in the population, migration from rural areas, desire to renew homes every year. However, only 20 percent of the people who feel this need have the financial resources to buy a new house.”

The management of the International Terminal at the Sabiha Gokcen Airport in Kurtkoy has been officially transferred to the Sabiha Gokcen International Investment Company that will be handling the expansion of the airport. Sabiha Gokcen is located on the Asian side of Istanbul and is in very close proximity to the F1 race circuit in Akfirat. Both Kurtkoy and Akfirat regions have been expanding very rapidly since the opening of the airport.

Statistics on the Change of Property Ownership in Turkey PDF Print E-mail

Due to the economic and political instability over the past year, the number of total changes in property ownership in Turkey decreased by 868,000 in 2007 in comparison to 2006. However in Istanbul, the same number increased by 20%. The number of sales in Istanbul over 2006 was 362,400 and this number increased to 453,000 over 2007.
