All of the newly created public spaces will have tree planting, seating, and opportunities for public art and access to public conveniences. It creates 1,500 new jobs. Forum Çamlik is expected to attract over 7 million visitors  each year. Given its wide retail offer and entertainment facilities, the center will be a very important shopping destination and attract visitors from Denizli and the neighboring cities. Multi Turkmall is the developer and Multi Investment is the owner of the project.
Opening Ceremony
The VIP opening ceremony was attended by Ertugrul Günay, Minister of Culture and Tourism; Dr. Hasan Canpolat, Governor of Denizli; Nihat Zeybekci, Mayor of Denizli; Nico Veldhuis, Managing Director of Multi Development - Vice Chairman of Multi Turkmall; and Levent Eyüboglu, Managing Director of Multi Turkmall, and many others. Levent Eyüboglu, Managing Director of Multi Turkmall, said: “Forum Çamlik is an essential element for the economic prosperity of Denizli. Given its scale, investment value, employment opportunities, location and shop mix Forum Çamlik has tremendous potential and brings to reality the shopping aspirations Denizli has for its retail sector.” The public opening took place at 14:00h. Throughout the day visitors of Forum Çamlik enjoyed the performances of groups and artists like Les Excentrics, Les Jouets, Venetian Violinist, and Tissus Aeriens.
The project
With its historical, economical and cultural value, the province of Denizli is one of the most dynamic and fast developing provinces in the Aegean Region. Denizli is an important tourist destination with its unique and beautiful natural travertine landscape; water springs and rich history. Denizli is easily accessible by car, train and daily air transportation and is situated on the Izmir-Antalya-Cappadocia main route.
Forum Çamlik is situated on a unique location on the Democracy Square, in the city center. The project is a new modern symbol for Denizli.
High-density residential areas with strong purchasing power surround it and it is close to the Pamukkale University. It has a catchment of one million people in the direct vicinity and more than 400,000 people within 20 minutes. Newly built main roads on the southern part of the city offer perfect infrastructure.
Forum Çamlik is an enclosed shopping center with 34,000 m² floor space, anchored by a Migros hypermarket (4,500 m²), a Mars Entertainment 7-screen cinema complex (2,500 m²), a Boyner department store (2,500 m²), a TeknoSA electronics store (1,500 m²), as well as L.C. Waikiki (1,100 m²) and Mudo (1,000 m²) stores and 120 shops of reknown national and international brands, restaurants, and cafes. There are 1,000 parking spaces.
Concept Design
Inspiration for the concept was found in the local history and architecture. With the usage of natural stones for the cladding and for the entire pavement, the solid character of the shopping center is enhanced. Through shape and colour the project is fully integrated in its surroundings. Denizli and Pamukkale city’s symbols, such as the architectural element called ‘baldakino’ are included in the concept. The center’s striking design includes piazzas, inner courts, gallerias and a tower.
Marquee structures provide protection against hot and cold weather. Architectural components enrich the center and connect the outdoor with the indoor space.
Multi’s Dutch in-house design group T+T Design developed forum Çamlik’s masterplan and the architect was Spanish Chapman Taylor.
Sustainable public space
Multi Turkmall is committed to enrich the public space with works of art and to bring art into daily life. Sculptures and relief works, were designed tailor made by well-known artists like Hanefi Yeter, painter and sculptor; Pelin Inal, glass artist; Eyüp Öz, sculptor; Kazim Karakaya, sculptor; and Ekrem Özen, mosaic artist.
