Akmerkez Being Renovated for $ 25 Million |

Raif Dinckok, member of board of Akmerkez Shopping Center in Etiler, has announced that the renovation project for upgrading the center will take start in March. The construction is projected to continue for around a year. Dinckok added that “Due to changes in the social environment and to keep up and adapt to the changes in the community, shopping centers need to be renovated every 10 to 15 years. Akmerkez renovation project is not related to new shopping center investments in the same region and it is not motivated by the competition.”
The refurbishment project was awarded to a Bangkok based design company named “ConsepT i” after a contest held in 2006.Akmerkez plans to change the current shop-mix of the center by the end of the refurbishment. They believe that a change in concept is the key to their success and a change in shop-mix will be required after the end of the refurbishment project.
