Metro plans to open 10 new stores in Turkey and reach a total of 36 stores by the 18th year of its operations in Turkey. The total number of employees will also reach 7,000 after hiring 2,000 employees for the new operations.

 

 Metro invested over 700 million euros in Turkey until now. The revenue of the Turkish operations for 2006 was over 1 billion euros.  Metro is not only active in retail industry in Turkey. The group also sources many different products and commodities from Turkey to sell at its outlets in the world. Last year, the group exported goods of approximately 600 million euros. Metro is also the largest buyer in Europe for Vestel, a Turkish electronics and home goods manufacturer.
